Difference between Active and Reserve Duty

Active duty soldiers draft at the age of 18 and serve at least two years. Their entire lives revolve around the day-to-day responsibilities of being full-time in the military, including living on base, ongoing training and guard duty. They’re young, typically don’t have children or many civilian responsibilities.

Reserve duty soldiers are full-time civilians, serving additional time after their mandatory service. They can be called up at any time to provide critical backup for emergency situations, such as war. They leave their spouses, children and jobs behind, sacrificing their regular lives for the protection and defense of the country. While most reservists are required to serve until the age of 40, many continue voluntarily out of love and commitment.

The military prioritizes providing active-duty and elite units with the most up-to-date gear, however, the same is not true for the reserve teams also serving on the front lines.

The two units we are supplying with upgraded equipment are reserve-duty combat soldiers.
